Item:192727612573Up for auction is a large folio sized and impressive handwritten manuscript volume bound in vellum. I believe it was written in the late 17th, to mid 18th century, more research is needed to verify my assumption. The binding is vellum & the interior sheets are hand laid paper with an interesting watermark. The text runs from letters A – M over some 863 sheets, ending rather abruptly but with no sign of loss. The text is volume one of: Synopsis variarum resolutionum ex selectioribus decretis Sacrae Congregationis concilii collecta ac per materias ordine alphabetico disposita. Loosely translated this is: A discussion of the various decrees and resolutions of the Sacred Congregation of the Council, gathered together and arranged in alphabetical order. By Thomas de Villanova. This is a beautifully produced volume that once belonged to the Couvent des Franciscains chant d'olseau Bruxelles it includes their stamp as well as another religious institution. This manuscript is in a legible hand, expect some offsetting through the hand laid paper leaves. It is bound in a contemporary full vellum binding, in excellent condition. The vellum is nicely age toned and with a gilt title to the spine. The manuscript measures 13 x 8.5 inches. Please see the photographs for more details.
