SEVERAL OLD NEW ENGLAND FAMILIES TO INCLUDE THE ROCKWOOD FAMILY, THE PIERCE FAMILY, SPAULDING, WHITCOMB, &c. BOOK IS DATED 1869, BUT DATES ARE RECORDED AS FAR BACK AS 1805. Incredible rare history and genealogy of numerous old New England families that include births, marriages, deaths, suicide, &c. written in great detail on approximately 15 pages in the back section of this diary, with dates ranging from 1805 to 1890. This 1869 diary has just a few diary entries due to the focus being definitely genealogy. The areas of New England that are given much attention are Brattleboro, Vermont - Nashua, New Hampshire - Townsend, Pepperell and Groton in Massachusetts, and a few other hamlets/villages from the early nineteenth century hallowed Yankee grounds in beloved old New England. Counties covered include Windham County in Vermont; Hillsborough County in New Hampshire and Middlesex County in Massachusetts. The handwritten entries are thoroughly researched and painstakingly compiled by our author, who it appears was a wealthy land owner or banker. Diarist refers to family and with further research our genealogist could be identified. It does appear from the handwritten entries that Martin Rockwood gives our author substantial financial problems.Andrew Rockwood birthday Jan. 22, 1857, aged 45Maria D.
